Shift Work: Rotating weekly pattern of Back, Early and Night shift.

Our modern facilities are based in Livingston, central Scotland, less than 20 minutes from Edinburgh and 40 minutes from Glasgow. Further growth means that we are now expanding our operations capabilities and have a requirement for a talented and experienced Senior Manufacturing Technician. Role Description

As a Senior Manufacturing Technician, your role will be to oversee the production of components and assemblies used to create medical diagnostic devices. You will work on both R&D and routine manufacturing projects where the finished diagnostic could help diagnose COVID-19, cancer or to support a diabetic to manage their blood glucose level.

Whatever the product or project, quality is paramount. You will function as supervisor to a small group of manufacturing technicians.

You must be able to work shift patterns. Our shift pattern is currently Back, Early and Night shift over five days, rotated weekly.


Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for: –

  • Manufacturing components and assemblies
  • Planning manufacture of components and assemblies
  • Utilising equipment such as lasers, screen printers, drying and liquid dispensing machines
  • Writing and following work instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Completing and reviewing batch records and quality standards
  • Initiating non-conformance reports as and when required
  • Executing test protocols and generating and interpreting data
  • Allocation of batch lot numbers and maintaining traceability throughout
  • Managing a small team of manufacturing technicians


Knowledge, Skills & Experience


You will: –

  • Be highly numerate and literate
  • Be computer literate and have high level proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Be capable of writing reports and recording information accurately
  • Be capable of performing repetitive tasks whilst retaining a high level of attention to detail
  • Have good manual dexterity
  • Be able to use computer aided design (CAD) packages (2D as a minimum)
  • Have a strong understanding of GxP requirements
  • Have line management experience



  • You will have worked in a regulated environment previously
  • You will have a working knowledge knowledge of ISO 13485 and FDA 21CFR part 820 – ideally within IVD operation
  • You will have a conceptual understanding of data analysis with relation to manufacturing capabilities


Knowledge & Experience

  • You will have proven, demonstrable experience within a similar role.
  • You will hold an HNC, HND, or degree in a technical subject such as Mechanical Engineering. Candidates with greater experience in lieu of academic qualifications will be considered.
  • Experienced in process excellence tools (preferably trained to green belt level) would be advantageous.
